A show by Christa Palazollo and Michelle Devereux at May 15th-June 13th 2015 at Mass Gallery in Austin, Texas
What would a natural history museum of the future look like? Will our mass-consumption of information morph truths into fantasy? Could our society—one obsessed with products, satire, social media, and environmental collapse—be interpreted by future beings as something completely different from our current reality? Which pieces of our present will be remembered in their correct context and which will be misconstrued? These are questions Christa and Michelle examine through drawing, painting, and installation using the form of a natural history museum as their inspiration.

Michelle Devereux presents a series of realistically rendered drawings combining airbrush and colored pencil that depict some of her fellow Austin artists hoverboarding through surreal landscapes on slices of pizzas. Her work is an experiment in transcending graphic representation to reveal trite but true archetypes of human desire and fantasy that in the end aren’t just about her liking pizza or the people on them but rather humanity’s obsession with food and man’s desire to fly.

What's Tappening?! was a short lived art circuit tap performance trio comprised of members: Michelle Devereux, Haleh Pedram and Brannon Via. Part performance art, part percussive experience and part experiment in "faking it till you make it" What's Tappening?! based their short performances around contemporary pop song medleys, routines learned off the internet and elaborate homemade costumes. Having also pre-dated the popularity of Smartphones and easily shareable video, there is limited documentation of What's Tappening's live performance, for the moment all we have is this photo taken by Ben Aqua for our interview in Tom Tom Magazine.
