Michelle Devereux's work combines familiar media, humorous subject matter, and obvious archetypes in a grab bag of multimedia pursuits that includes drawing, painting, installation, video, and performance.

Her work is about mimicking reality to the point of absurdity, the search for the quintessential, and finding beauty in the embarrassing. She is aesthetically seduced by state fair merchandise, bizarre tourist attractions, cheap craft kits, movie theater carpets, and anything involving choreographed dance sequences. She is also a co-founder of a conceptual tap troupe called What's Tappening!? and plays drums in her dark wave, chick band, Storm Shelter.

She is a contributing artist and designer for Monofonus, an up-and-coming, Austin based, multi-media label. Her book project, Turn This Book Right-Side-Up! was recently published as part of the label's IF Series. You can purchase a copyhere.
